Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Aether Libro handles and how. In short: we have no central servers storing your manuscripts — everything lives in your own browser. Only if you use the free beta do we keep your email and your trial credit (section 4).
1. Where your information lives
Your projects, manuscripts, settings and drafts are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB and localStorage. Aether Libro does not operate its own server that receives or stores copies of your content. If you clear the site data in your browser, or change device or browser without exporting first, that content is lost — we have no copy to restore.
2. Your API keys
The AI-provider keys you enter are stored encrypted in your browser's local storage and are never sent to Aether Libro servers. They are used only so that your own browser can communicate directly with the AI provider you chose.
3. What we share with third parties — and when
When you use an AI feature (assisted writing, proofreading, image generation, etc.), the relevant text or instruction is sent directly from your browser to the provider you configured: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini), DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or a local model (Ollama) running on your own machine. That transfer happens only when you trigger the feature, and it is subject to that provider's privacy policy and terms, not ours. We recommend reviewing them if you are concerned about what they do with that data.
If you use the free beta (without your own key), the text or instruction of each AI feature goes from your browser to our intermediary (hosted on Cloudflare), which forwards it to OpenRouter with our key so the relevant model can process it. The intermediary does not store your text: it only records the cost and the number of requests of your account to deduct the credit. We have disabled request logging at OpenRouter; the model that answers handles it under its provider's policy.
Outside those explicit AI calls, Aether Libro does not send your content to any server.
If you click “Feedback”, a Tally form opens in a new tab (a company based in Belgium, with data hosted in the European Union). It only receives what you type into the form, plus the Aether Libro version and the interface language, so we can reproduce what you report. Nothing from your book is sent that way. Tally handles those answers under its own privacy policy; we read them to improve the Application and use them for nothing else.
4. The free beta account
If you sign in with Google to use the free beta, we store in Supabase (servers in the European Union): your email, the identifier and basic profile data Google provides (name and photo, if any), whether your account is approved, your credit, what you have spent, the number of requests and the date of your last use. We never store your book or the text you send to the AI.
We use them only to identify you, apply your credit, prevent abuse and write to you about the beta (for example, to tell you your account is approved or to ask for your opinion). The legal basis is providing the service you request. We keep them for as long as the beta lasts or until you ask us to delete them.
Providers involved: Google (sign-in), Supabase (accounts and credit), Cloudflare (hosting and the intermediary) and OpenRouter (access to AI models). None of them receives your data for advertising purposes on our behalf.
5. Analytics and tracking
Aether Libro does not include any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Without a beta account, we do not know what you write or how much you use the Application, and we have no way of identifying you. With a beta account, we only know what section 4 describes (how much credit you have spent), never what you write.
6. Cookies and local storage
We only use the browser's local storage (localStorage and IndexedDB) to save your projects, your preferences and, if you join the free beta, your session. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
7. Your control over your data
You can export any project at any time (PDF/EPUB). You can delete all information Aether Libro stores in your browser by clearing the site data in its settings — doing so removes that information completely, since no copy of your books exists on any server of ours.
If you have a free beta account, you can ask us at any time to see, correct, take away or delete its data, or object to its use, by writing to the contact address. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
8. Minors
Aether Libro is not directed at children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor in your care has used third-party AI features through the Application, please also review that provider's policy.
9. Changes to this policy
If the product evolves (for example, if cloud sync or payments are introduced in the future), this policy will be updated to reflect it clearly before that change takes effect.
10. Contact
For any question about this policy or your data, write to us at [email protected].
Since Aether Libro does not keep your content on any server, almost everything the law lets you request about your books (seeing, taking away or deleting your data) you can do yourself from your browser: by exporting your book or clearing the site data. For the beta account and anything else, we will answer at that address.
